What To Do If You Cannot log in To Your Router?

Since 192.168.1.254 is the default IP address for most routers, it is also essential to note that 192.168.o.1 might not just be the login address for your router. Some routers also have different IP addresses that you can find on the Internet. If 192.168.o.1 does not work for your router, there is no need to panic. There might be the following possibilities for the login failure.

  • 192.168.1.254 is not the IP address for your router.
  • The router might not be appropriately connected with the LAN wire. Fix the cable tightly with the router to get it up and running, and try again.
  • There might be a firewall filtering that has been allowed to pass through your router. Check your firewall settings and deselect the same, as this can hamper the login process.
  • Check if your router is properly on. You can restart your router again and try to log in.

The above-mentioned steps are useful in getting your router fixed. Restarting your router will restore your settings to default. You can restart your router in the following ways,

  1. Locate the tiny button behind or at the bottom of your router. Press the button for a few seconds till the light starts blinking.
  2. Once the light goes off, release the button and wait for the router to restart.
  3. The light will turn on once again after the router restarts. Your previous settings would be set to default, and you can log in and configure them again successfully.
  4. If you are still unable to access default ip address 192.168.1.254, you can try using 192.168.1.254, 10.0.0.1 or 192.168.2.1. These strings of numbers are private IP address and are similarly used to login to your existing service providers.
